Kamy and her sisters were found by Tipton County Animal Control wandering through the back roads of Brighton, TN. When they were taken to the shelter they were only 3 months old and were grossly underweight only weighing 10, 11 and 12 pounds. Now they are 4 years old, 17 inches tall (at the shoulder) and weigh about 40 pounds.
Kamy is very smart; already crate trained, house trained and knows a few basic commands. She is a very loving but timid dog that is extremely appreciative of being rescued and loves to cuddle to show her appreciation. Kamy needs to be in a calm home. She is very well behaved, enjoys playing, curling up on the couch to snuggle, is sometimes a little nervous but enjoys taking walks and rides in the car too. Kamy has lived most of the last 4 years with her sister, 2 other dogs and 2 cats and gets along well with them. She is interested in and likes to chase one of the cats; the same cat also walks up and rubs on her (Kamy doesn’t know what to think when this happens). Lately she is much calmer around the cats; they have even laid down on the couch when she was up there.
Kamy is usually a submissive dog (but is also playful and sometimes irritates the other dogs trying to initiate play time-normally at bed time) and has been getting picked on by her sister and one of the other dogs she lives with; so she stays separated from them for most of the time and is finally ready to move on to a new life without her sister. Kamy had a hard life before rescue, then was briefly adopted and severely teased by an 8-10 year old boy so she is unsure around children that age and younger. However my friend and neighbor’s 4 year old daughter understands Kamy being scared and wanted to befriend her. Slowly over a few months she gained Kamy’s trust and Kamy actually enjoys being petted by a child. If you are a patient person looking for a smart, young, unique looking dog that has a lot of love and loyalty to give then you have found her!
