Hi! My name is Gizmo. In case you are wondering, I am a Catahoula Leopard Dog. I am a little girl, and I am about a year old. I am a little small for my breed, probably because I was almost starved to death when I was only a few weeks old. I weigh about 40 pounds, and have grown up to be a strong, healthy dog.
Don’t let my baby blue eyes fool you, though. I am just as sweet as I can be, but after getting a really rough start in life, I will not hesitate to let you know what I want! I am pretty smart, too. I am housebroken (although you may need to let me out pretty frequently, because I am still a baby). I am crate trained and I know the difference between dog toys and people toys. I am still a puppy at heart though…so if I get bored or am left all by myself for too long, I may just forget the difference for a minute! And sometimes my roughousing may be a little too much for a small dog or an older dog. I just think I need to boss other dogs around. And while I’m pretty well behaved alot of the time, I do still have my mischievous puppy moments!
I also love people very much! I like to keep my foster mom within sight, but I don’t usually get under her feet. (Although I do occasionally still get into mischief that surprises even her!) I’m pretty comfortable hanging out and relaxing on my little dog bed where I can see her. When she lets me up on the couch, I am super snuggly and cuddly…and when I get to sleep in a people bed at night, I am most comfortable snuggling up under the covers so I stay nice & toasty! But when I decide that it is playtime…watch out! I just love to run and play as long as you are paying attention to me, and I can keep it up for quite a while. And I don’t like car rides at all. I just love when I get to go out into the neighborhood on a leash, and I walk very well on one. And so far, smaller animals like cats are just beneath my notice. Being a herd dog, I do want to go visit horses and other big animals just a little too much sometimes, though, and I occasionally try to herd all the people and other dogs in the house into the same room.
As spoiled as I am here, though, I would love to find a Forever Family of my very own, who I could spoil right back. So if you are looking for a pretty blue eyed girl with lots of love to give, you have found her!
And just in case you are wondering – I have been spayed, vaccinated, and I am on heartworm preventative.
